Happy Birthday to My Wife!

Yesterday, my wife turned one year older. I refuse to tell you how old she is now, but I will just say that it is one year older than I am. It just seems like yesterday that we were in our 20's and it is quickly becoming thinking about being in our 30's. Life is going so fast. I have known this lady since she was 20 years old, and I think she is a greater woman today than she was back then.

What do you like to do for your birthday? We have sort of a tradition when Monique turns another year older. We usually try to spend the day with each other and go shopping. This is what we did. After we dropped the kids off to school yesterday morning, we went to Panera Bread for a few hours. We each sat there and read and blogged. This is my usual Monday, but it was really fun to have her with me this week.

After some bagels, reading, and blogging, we left and went to some outlet malls. Let me tell you about my wife and shopping. Somehow she never received that female shopping chromosome. She hates to shop for herself. This may actually be one of the things I love about her. I have to make her buy things for herself. We spent the better part of the day in stores trying to find some cool, new clothes for her to purchase. It was difficult, but we did have some success.

Then we came home, picked up the kids, did some homework, and went to college Bible study. Sound like a good birthday? You see, for some of you, this would not sound like the greatest day, but this is why I love my wife so much. She isn't about the big and grand. She is about Jesus and serving others. I have this book in my mind that I am going to write someday about the "nobodies" of the church, that long to be behind the scenes and never receive the recognition. That is her. She would be the first chapter. She is not looking for her birthday to be a spoiled day for her. She is looking to be under the radar serving people or spending time with those she loves. I hope it was a good day for her as we did that. I love you babe! I can't wait till the next one, I know it will be here faster than we can imagine.

Question: What Would You Do For Your Birthday If You Could Do Anything?

  1. I'd take the day off of work and read, then shop a little, then have dinner with hubs and maybe some friends too. Mainly, I'd take the day off of work!

  2. Well, the good news is that you get the chance to put your plan into operation in just a few short weeks!
