I wanted to do something at church yesterday that made people think about their spiritual growth this past year as well as look ahead to this next year. There has been a series of questions I have used in my own life for many years now. And I have asked them of other people. So, I thought I would ask them of CBC on Sunday. These are questions that are asked in such a way as to make people think about their life. But mostly to think about how they have grown in these different areas this past year.
Maybe I should ask you. Are you growing? Are you closer to the Lord as you begin 2012 than you were when you entered 2011. Be honest with yourself. This is a really good time to evaluate your heart. Maybe, wherever you are at today, you could give some time to evaluate your spiritual growth. Here are the questions:
- Am I Growing In My Love For Heavenly Things?
- Am I Growing In My Battle With Sin?
- Am I Growing In My Love For Others?
- Am I Growing In My Desire To Spend Time With God?
- Am I Growing In My Joy?
- Am I Growing In My Compassion For The Lost?
- Am I Growing In My Thankfulness?
- Am I Growing In My Spiritual Giftedness?
If you want to hear how I break each one of these down, you can find the message HERE (usually posted by Tuesday). Please do not hesitate in taking a few minutes this week and evaluate your walk with Jesus Christ. As the Apostle Paul has said:
"Test yourself to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you--unless indeed you fail the test?" (2 Corinthians 13:5)
Question: If You Were To Add A Question, What Would It Be?
